Why did you choose to work for New York Life?

They are the only one who gave me the opportunity to get in as a Financial Professional position and now I’m a partner in just two years.

What do you love most about New York Life?

Winning culture. We dominate financial services industry ever since they start tracking the record.

Describe your job and responsibilities.

Recruit, train and retain good people. I assist the Managing Partner on the growth of the office here in North Dakota.

What skills are necessary for your position?

Driven, ethical, motivated and communication.

What is the most challenging part of your job, and how do you overcome it?

Looking for great candidates. The way to overcome is to always try to be a better leader. People attract to leaders, not jobs.

What is an average work day like for you?

Interview, office meeting, training, looking for great people to hire.

What advice do you have for someone aspiring to work in your field?

Give it all you’ve got in for the first three years of your life where most people wouldn’t. You would have the best lifestyle that people around want for the rest of your life.

What’s the best way to network with people in your field?

LinkedIn and networking event.

What is one career-related tip you have for students?

I wasn’t a good enough to get jobs I wanted. I remember that I never even got past the first round interview for a teller position at any banks. Find something you can do and are passionate about. For me, I believe sales is where you control your destiny. Go out and dominate it. Prove everyone wrong about you then you will do better than everyone that doubt you at the beginning.
