- Why did you choose the company that you worked for?
- I learned about this position from the student who held the position the year before. I love NDSU, and after hearing about the experience, I figured it would be a great way to gain experience in the Human Services field while working for a school I care a lot about.
- What were some of your job requirements for your internship?
- The main job requirement, is assisting prospective NDSU students and their families with the transition from high school to college. Another requirement is traveling two weeks a month to high schools and college fairs in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Illinois to help recruit future bison.
- What was your favorite part about your internship experience?
- I find being a resource for high school students very rewarding. I really enjoy being able to answer their questions, and share personal experiences to make their transition to college less nerve-wracking!
- What was the most challenging part of your internship? how did you overcome these obstacles?
- The most challenging part of this internship is that the work is very independent. While I enjoyed the freedom that I get, it also means thinking on my feet and using outside resources. I especially had to use this technique when I am on the road. My supervisors are always willing to help, but the traveling aspect of this job requires me to be self-sufficient.

- Why was it beneficial for you to register for credit(s) through the Internship Program offered through the Career Center
- It was beneficial to register my internship experience through the Career Center, because I was able to earn credit and maintain full-time student status. Maintaining full-time student status was helpful for student loan purposes.
- What advice would you give a student who is in the process of applying to an internship?
- My biggest advice would be, just for for it. When I was applying for this internship, I was concerned about all of the formalities and the way it would affect my enrollment and graduation date. However, after deciding to accept this position, the Career Center assisted me with registering my internship, and my advisor was accommodating and helpful when it came to keeping me on track academically. I am so happy I decided to follow through with the process, and gain all of this experience.
