Career Peer Advisor
Major: Construction Engineering
Sheridan, one of our career peers, has many different jobs throughout an average work day. She can be found assisting career advisers in meetings, giving classroom presentations, helping promote career events on campus as well as working at them to ensure a smooth turnout at each one. She is studying Construction Engineering at NDSU and hopes to obtain a job designing for construction projects with Mortenson Construction, where she has been interning during the past year. Her ultimate goal is to stay close to family and friends while working for the company and doing what she enjoys in order to create new and beautiful structures across the country. Along with work and school, Sheridan is a part of the Distinguished Leaders Program on campus where she mentors a high school student from North Fargo High School. She also coaches dance on Monday evenings to 1st-3rd graders through Just For Kix in West Fargo. In her free time, Sheridan enjoys reading lots of books, watching movies, and spending time with close friends and family.
Career Peer Advisor
As a Career Peer, Riley works at the front desk, schedules appointments, and assisting with career fair prep. Outside of the office, Riley can be found doing in-class promotions, 189 teaching, and working at the career fairs. Beyond being an NDSU Career Peer, Riley is an Elementary Education and HDFS major and will be graduating in May of 2018. Along with her two degrees, Riley is planning on getting education endorsements in both reading and ELL (English Language Learners). With this degree, Riley hopes to go back home to the cities and teach in an elementary classroom closer to family and the hustle and bustle of the cities. In her free time, she likes to run, read, play with her puppy, drink coffee and be around friends and family.
As a Career Peer, Lindsay manages the Career Closet, updates the Career Center’s website, and assists with the social media. Along with being a Career Peer, she is also a production and sales intern at In-House Advertising and Consulting. She will graduate in May of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication (emphasis in public relations) and a minor in journalism. During her college career, she has studied abroad in both Australia and Brazil, elected treasurer of NDSU PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America), and will graduate a year early. Her future plans include staying in the FM area for a few years upon graduation to gain more experience and then move to the Minneapolis area. Lindsay also stays busy with a variety of activities including working out, wake surfing in the summer, eating healthy, writing, reading, baking, and personal blogging.
Career Peer Advisor
Minor: Criminal Justice
As one of the Career Peers, Alexis is usually working at the front desk, and assisting with appointments. She may also be seen giving class presentations or assisting at the career fairs. As well as working as a Career Peer, Alexis is currently a Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is currently a junior. Alexis hopes to one day work as a forensic psychologist, and have a career in the FBI. Alexis has worked in an array of places ranging from Great Clips, Noodles & Company, Caribou, and you may have even seen her working at the on campus coffee shop. When Alexis is not busy with school and work she enjoys spending time with friends, and watching movies.
As one of the Career Peers, Tomi supports the Office Support Specialist by scheduling appointments and assisting with other administrative duties. She also conducts brief classroom presentations to promote events, distributes promotional materials around campus, and conducts telephone surveys of recent graduates for First Destination Survey as needed. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and hopes to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the future. Her long term goal is to start up a Non-Governmental Organization in her country, Nigeria, to provide proper healthcare for the less-privileged. In addition to being a Career Peer, Tomi also serves as a Peer Mentor at NDSU where she helps students who are new to NDSU to integrate to college life by serving as a model for successful academic behavior. In her free time, she likes to listen to music, watch TV, hang out with her friends, cook, and travel.
Savannah, as a Career Peer, has different jobs throughout her average work day. She assists the Office Support Specialist with differing administrative duties, helping schedule appointments as well as assist in promoting events by visiting classes to discuss the upcoming events. Savannah is currently a Family and Consumer Sciences Education major and hope to teach FACS at the high school level in her hometown, Mandan, ND. Previously, Savannah has worked at various retailers in her hometown. In her free time, she enjoys staying involved on campus with Tri Delta, RHA, HD&E Leadership Council, and serving as her residence hall government’s president.
As a Career Peer, Casondra supports the Career Center Staff by scheduling appointments and assisting with other administrative duties. She also conducts classroom presentations and distributes promotional materials around campus. Casondra is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with minors in Economics and Managerial Psychology with a long-term goal of working in upper management at a large corporation. In addition to being a Career Peer, Casondra also works as an Office Assistant and Technician at a local optometrist. She is an active member of numerous honor societies, the Ballroom Dance Team, and is serving as Chapter President of Phi Beta Lambda, a student business organization. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, reading, and making candles.
Major: Crop and Weed Sciences
Career Peer, Katie Skalicky, keeps herself busy at the front desk with scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, presenting and marketing upcoming career fairs and expos to classes throughout campus, and being one of the first friendly faces you see while walking in to the Career Center. Katie is currently a freshman pursuing a degree in Crop and Weed Science. She plans to use her degree to work with global food security issues in hopes of being involved in the elimination of world hunger. Before joining the Career Center staff, she held a job with a local printing shop in her hometown of Owatonna, MN, and has worked with many agriculture business throughout the past couple of summers. In Katie’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, exploring Fargo, attending Bison sporting events, and she will soon be coaching for the Fargo/Moorhead girls lacrosse program.
Career Peer - Marketing
Major: Strategic Communication
Career Peer, Sadie, can be found at the front desk checking in appointments, assisting with the marketing and event planning, and helping around the office. Sadie is a sophomore, who is majoring in Strategic Communications and minoring in Business Administration. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, she likes to go camping, traveling, and going to Bison sporting events.
