Networking has been and continues to be one of the most important activities one should learn and master for his/her current and future job searches. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that between 60-85% of jobs are filled through professional networking. The ability to successfully network can be critical in the job search process.

Get Started

  • Make a list of family members, friends, co-workers, classmates, student organization members, etc. that you can visit with about your career interests.
  • Get active in community events, such as service projects, to meet other professionals in a casual setting and demonstrate some of your skills to them.
  • Participate in career fairs early in your college career to make professional contacts that may be useful when you begin your job search.
